Families can best express what the
Misler Center has meant to them and their loved ones. Here are some
of the letters we have received.
...It perks up my spirits when Maria
tells me about her days with you at Misler. It has made a huge
difference in her outlook on life. Tuesdays and Thursdays are
threads of gold in her weekly calendar.
...Due to my 2 part-time jobs I often
have to make last-minute arrangements. Were it not for The Misler
Center’s understanding, I would not be able to work. I always get a
pleasant voice on the phone and a willingness to help.
...Since it is almost 6 years since his
severe stroke, his abilities are very few, but it is a tribute to
your programs and staff that he always wants to attend — no matter
how tired or depressed he may be.
...There is not a day that goes by that
my Mom does not talk about her day at Misler and how wonderful it
was. She struggles to remember specifics, but her eyes light up with
excitement when we ask about her day. All her friends and relatives
are amazed at how she emanates life and joy trying to recount her
day at the Center. It is clear that Misler has become her home.
...It was apparent from the beginning
that every member of the staff recognized and was attentive to my
father’s needs. I believe he received a great deal from the program.
In addition to the socialization, I know that he felt he was being
cared for. On the way home, he always said the day was “wonderful.”
...As a family member of a participant I
personally experienced the staff’s friendliness, concern and
support. I was greeted warmly every Monday and Thursday morning and
afternoon. The caregivers’ support group was a tremendous help to
me. It was a place where I could vent my frustrations without
judgment.
...I am writing to let you know how
grateful and impressed I am at how good the Misler Center has been
to my Dad. It begins with the call that my sister gets from the
dispatcher, to the courteous bus driver who comes to the door and
helps him walk to the bus. Everyone is so nice, gentle, and patient.
When my Dad returns from the Center he comes back with so much
information about new things he learned and activities that he
performed.
...I want to take this opportunity to
thank you and the entire staff of the Misler Center for not only
helping my father be all he is capable of being at this difficult
time in his life, but also for giving me and the rest of my family
the security of knowing that when he is not with us, he is still
safe, secure and stimulated.
